Computer Systems Engineering BEng Hons

The normal study load expectation for an undergraduate full-time course of study in the standard academic year is 120 credit points. This amounts to around hours of expected teaching and learning per week, inclusive of attendance requirements for lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical work, fieldwork or other scheduled classes, private study, and assessment. Part-time study load is the same as full-time pro-rata, with each credit point representing 10 hours of student effort. As part of your course induction, you will be provided with details of the organisation and management of the course, including attendance and assessment requirements – usually in the form of a timetable. For full-time courses, the precise timetable for each semester is not confirmed until near the start date and may be subject to change in the early weeks as all courses settle into their planned patterns. For part-time courses which require attendance on particular days and times, an expectation of the days of attendance will often be included in the letter of offer.

  • In your final year, specialist modules cover topics ranging from intelligent systems and digital signal processing to system design and security.
  • Students are introduced to simple practical feedback mechanisms, including PID controllers and performance criteria such as offset, stability, poles and zeros.
  • The College of Science and Engineering is offering ten scholarships worth £10,000 each towards tuition fees for academically excellent students wishing to study an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught programme within the College’s programme portfolio.
  • This module is intended to equip students with the core knowledge of ‘how hardware works’ in digital systems and introduce the concept of embedded systems using examples/case studies.
  • Alternatively, Junior College Diploma holders may be considered on a case by case basis for entry to undergraduate courses.

We accept these qualifications whether you have studied them in the UK or abroad. Unfortunately we are unable to accept students onto our degrees on the basis of this qualification alone. Our typical offer will including individual grades in the relevant components – please contact for further advice before you apply. For any of these offers, we will not require a pass in any separate science practical endorsement for a science A level if you apply for entry in 2022 . Your application, especially your personal statement, should explain your motivation for choosing this degree and any relevant non-academic interests and achievements. You are more likely to be successful if you demonstrate a strong interest in electrical engineering and computer systems through relevant reading, extracurricular or co-curricular activities, or work experience.

Computer Systems Engineering MEng

A degree course structured to develop ingenuity, creativity, invention and product development skills. Northern Irish students are able to apply for non-means-tested tuition fee loans of up to £5,500, to help with the costs of funding. Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans are EU-guaranteed loans with favourable pay-back terms.

Computers Systems

Students will improve skills in communication, team working and reflective practices as a result of the group project. Engineering applications in manufacturing, aerospace, robotics, energy, finance, healthcare and a host of other areas are predominately computer based or computer controlled. In order to be able to create computer based and computer controlled applications, students need to acquire proficiency in relevant software and programming languages. In this module, labs and several individual assignments will build proficiency in creating C programs as solutions to engineering problems. The aim of this module is to develop student understanding of the skills and competencies required in both academic and professional environments. Students will work individually and in teams to develop the knowledge and skills required to plan, design and conduct a research project.
