A three term MA programme, structured around four taught modules , including a work placement, in addition to a final dissertation or curatorial project . Art Writing has been one of my favourite modules as we were introduced to a range of experts who specialised in all styles of writing. Overall the MA has been an excellent opportunity to network within the art world and expand upon my own personal interests.

  • We will be working with the Scottish Government and other key stakeholders to ensure that the value and impact that CBFS supported projects deliver is fully understood and will share any information about the future status of the fund with you as soon as possible.
  • There will be essential sessions on how to design and develop your research, and you’ll have one to one supervision with an academic or industry specialist throughout your project.

The MA offers a unique combination of academic research-based modules and more practical, hands-on experience. NTU and Exeter are working in partnership to deliver six split-site Biomedical PhD studentships. If successful, you will benefit from expert supervision from researchers in both institutions and have the opportunity to research and live in two great locations, for up to eighteen months in each. Jane is an interdisciplinary practitioner, and began her career in textile design. She has since worked as National Craft Advisor for the Women’s Institute in the charity sector, and has 20 years’ experience of teaching in higher education across a range of creative programmes. Broad range of guest talks by inspiring figures from the creative industries, for example; museums and galleries, education, entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Where one is providing symbolic and aesthetic immersion, the other is creating goods for a market and markets for a good. They often deal and struggle with the same issues, framing it differently and finding different solutions. Birmingham School of Art, an impressive purpose-built Grade 1 listed example of Venetian Gothic architecture, was the first major renovation project undertaken by the university (£5.5m refurbishment). In previous years School of Art international trips have included visiting the Venice Biennale, New York, Berlin and Barcelona. The purpose of this module is to introduce key concepts and debates around global commercial art markets, from various perspectives and with all stakeholders in mind. This includes the type of loans, grants and scholarships available both from the government and from Birmingham City University.

You will also be able to establish whether your product is viable – whether you can make it at a price that is attractive to customers, and which will be financially worthwhile for you. This programme will prepare you for graduate level employment by developing a number of the skills and attributes that are valued by employers. Drawing on expertise from the university’s Art History and Visual Culture team and across the world, lectures and seminars are framed around conversations with internationally recognised curators, artists, researchers and writers.

Mr Anthony Misquitta Consultant Solicitor Mr Misquitta specialises in both contract negotiation and litigation for businesses involved in art, brands and technology. He acts as General Counsel for the Victoria & Albert Museum artisttoursgroup.com and is a trustee of both the Association for Cultural Enterprises and the Sir Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art. His main research interests are in law and economics, comparative competition law/economics and policy focusing on EU, China and ASEAN, as well as intellectual property, and financial regulation.
