
Lord Vishnu, the second god from the trinity is known as the preserver. Time and time again, he has come to earth in human forms to fight and destroy evil.He is also known as Dus Avatar (one with ten Incarnations). The Incarnations of Lord Vishnu are Krishna, Ram, Narsimha, Matsya, Koorm, Varaha, Parushurama, Gautam Buddha, Vamana and Kalki Avatar which is yet to arrive. He has also come as Lord Balaji and his worshipped the most in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The main holy book for Hindus which contains the hidden facts of life and universe… the Bhagavad-Gita is said to be the eternal teachings of Lord Krishna, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Another important scripture of Sanathan Dharma Ramayana is based on the life of Lord Ram. These books enlighten the reader with the right way of conduct and living to have a blissful life.
As believed by the followers of Hindu religion, Lord Vishnu`s abode Vaikunta is in the middle of the sea with a Shesh-Nag (snake god) as his bed; hence he is also known as Vaikunthnath. He is in a sleeping position but knows well what is happening around the universe. His devotional songs would most likely have a line where the devotees are asking him to wake up and come to their help.
Lord Vishnu is the most benevolent but full of leelas (Plays). He is known for testing his devotees and in the process gets them, detached from the materialistic world. The Sanskrit meaning of the name Vishnu is one who is omnipresent.
