Since years together, a common man is using garlic as a medicine. Among people of majority of the countries of world, garlic is considered to be an excellent eatable. Garlic is of two types, white and reddish; and both types are largely similar in their medicinal qualities. Garlic which comes of one-seed type, enhances the user benefits. Garlic destroys worms and white-leprosy. At digestive level, it is sticky, warm, stimulates sperm counts, hot, heavy to digest. According to the modern scientific view, it consists of vitamin B, C and to some extent, vitamin A also. Modern scientific opinion also says that garlic also contains minerals like calcium, potassium and phosphorous. It also partly contains iodine and alcohol. Garlic is extremely beneficial for the blood circulation system of heart. It regulates the sugar proportion in the blood, which is very much essential for diabetic control. In the similar manner, it cures intestinal diseases. Garlic cures diseases of the respiratory system of our body like cold, cough, tuberculosis, influenza, etc. It also gives relief to the people suffering from allergy. As garlic contains estrogenic hormones, it helps in increasing milk of the mothers who breast-feed their children.
Uses:-
In ear pain, heat garlic in oil and then put drops of this oil in both ears.In migraine pain, drop garlic juice in nostrils.In case of bite by a rabid dog, make a paste of garlic and apply on the bitten part. Further, boil garlic and drink it and also eat garlic in diet.For any type of cough, put 25 drops of garlic juice in sharbat of Pomegranate and drink it.In case of pain of hands and legs, roast garlic and ginger in ghee and consume it with honey for some days. It will relieve from such pain.In case of Pleurisy, crush garlic paste and heat it little bit. Apply this warm paste on the chest of the patient. It gives relief.If wound is infected by bacteria or worms, then crush garlic paste and apply the same on it.For faster joining of broken bones, it is beneficial to eat garlic after frying it in ghee.In all types of Vaa (Arthritis), take about 40 grams garlic petals, one gram each of roasted Asafetida, Jeera, Sindhalun (Rock Salt), Sanchal (Black salt), Sunth (Dry Jinger powder), Pipper (Black Mire), mix them all with garlic to create a paste. Out of this paste, make small tablets. Consume one tablet, then eat one petal of garlic, then drink Ukalo (Liquid extract) of Castor root. This is very useful in curing paralysis, Urustambh, pain of hips, pain of sides of waist and chest, stomach worms, stomach gas and Arthritis of all organs of body. Many house wives use garlic in almost all cooking items.In almost all items of Punjabi cuisine, garlic is freely used.Many people prepare chutney (Paste) of garlic and always keep it readily available in house. Garlic pickle is also being made and used widely.
Do not use too much garlic in summer season. Similarly, do not use garlic in cases of ulcers in mouth or stomach, burning sensation in urine or other similar diseases. In the same manner, in cases of Atisar (Diarrhea), pregnancy, Raktapitti (Bleeding diseases), persons suffering from vomiting, etc. do not give garlic. In this manner, garlic is extremely beneficial in giving health.
