People belonging to Sindhi community were residents of Sindh province pre-partition, after partition they relocated to different parts of the country. Even though an average Sindhi is trying out new recipes which is not the traditional Sindhi fare, but they still follow their culture and tradition as in the good old days. And an extremely important aspect of Sindhi culture is its cuisine. There is a pre-set combination of main food and the accompaniment to be served with it. This has been developed over the years by Sindhis after understanding the Sindhi food taste.
The authentic Sindhi food is inspired by Indian and Mughlai cuisine. They are moderately spiced food, not too bland and not too pungent. The well-known Sindhi foods are Sai Bhaji (Vegetarian preparation), Mattar Paneer (Peas and Cottage cheese), Lolo (Sweet Indian Bread), Sindhi Chicken (A scrumptious and quick to make Chicken dish), Seyal Pallo (Fish delicacy).
It doesn’t take long to learn Sindhi cooking if one has the interest. Under sweet dishes one can choose from like the Karachi Halwa (Semolina sweet dish), Tosha (Made from Wheat flour and Sugar syrup). There are some authentic Sindhi drinks to keep the body healthy and cool such as the Khirni (milk with saffron and cardamom), Sherbet.
Sindhi cooking is incomplete without Papad. Sindhis have a special place in their cuisine for Papads. They have experts in making delicious papads and like to have it with meals or just like that. Sindhi meals are also often seen with one of the spicy and sour pickles.
