
In Sama-Veda, there is one section on Chandogya Brahmana sung by Sage Chandoga. Chandogya Upanishad begins from eighth chapter onwards till the last tenth chapter in Chandogya Brahmana. This Upanishad focuses on the Atman (Soul) and Brahman (Divine) being one and the same. There are also stories to indicate the virtues of a good human.
Today, the OM syllable has become an important element for spiritual progress. The benefits of the OM sound have been mentioned in the Chandogya Upanishad. It gives a deep insight on the ideal way of living for all. The importance of Vedas and the need to use the wisdom of Vedas in everyday living has been elaborated in it. It also gives way to building strong character with positive thoughts, action, behavior etc.
The Upanishads are a reflection of the sages of that time. After reading the Upanishad one can understand the intensity of intellect, love, patience, experience of the sages who compiled them.
For the ease of understanding, they would use simple language but emit wisdom with deep value for the learner. The knowledge found in Chandogya Upanishad would be useful for the students in every sphere of life. Another virtue of Chandogya Upanishad is it does not discriminate between a Brahman and non-Brahman. It actually teaches to live like a true Brahman irrespective of what you were born as.
All the teachings given in the Vedas has been properly dealt with in the Chandogya Upanishad. It is, therefore, considered as one of the extremely important Upanishads.
