
Carnatic music is the original music of India that existed long back before external influence on Indian culture. This musical notes for Carnatic music had been created from the four Vedas. Carnatic Music is among the first few forms of music introduced to the world.Similar to Hindustani, Carnatic music too is formed from musical notes called seven ragas (Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Da Ni) and thaat.
True to the ancient Indian culture, this music was developed to sing devotional songs describing the glory of the gods. It was believed that the music was formed in a way so as to invoke the supreme divine and receive his blessings and grace. It hence helped in gaining spiritual strength.
Even in this generation and age there is a huge fan following for Carnatic music between people of all age groups. Before 20th century there were schools, where only Carnatic music was taught. As the actual learning in Carnatic music then was vast, it took years for students to complete the education.
As years passed by, there were some changes observed in the teaching, practice, instruments used etc. With academic brilliance getting importance there isn`t as much dedication towards learning Indian classical music like Carnatic music. Mostly, children coming from music families are more seen to be learning Carnatic music. Some instruments like Tamburas that was used for playng Carnatic music has been replaced by electronic Tamburas at many places.
In spite of all this, Carnatic music still ignites interest among true music lovers.
